Amelia Korbitz is an American violinist with a passion for new music and collaboration through chamber music. She is the executive director and founder of the Antigone Music Collective, an organization committed to performing music by historically underrepresented composers, advancing the role of women in classical music, and making modern music accessible to modern audiences.
Through the Antigone Music Collective, Amelia has curated free public concerts across the Midwest, where a large portion of her programming is focused on nature, current events, and identity in the 21st century. She has also been a part of the concert series at the Vid Djupid Music Festival in Isafjordur, Iceland with the AMC. She is deeply inspired by many living composers, and through the Antigone Music Collective, has been a part of commissions for individuals such as Brian Raphael Nabors, Nicolas Bizub, Gregory Rowland Evans, and Emma Tucker.
Amelia was a founder of Antigone Quartet, the core performing ensemble of the Antigone Music Collective. They performed regularly throughout the Midwest and were invited to perform at the Southern Illinois Music Festival, Musica Le Mans, and the Musica Malicorne festivals in France. They have also been artists in residence at the Ascent International Music Festival. In 2023, the Antigone Quartet was featured on WGUC 90.9, performing the winning work of the inaugural Antigone Music Collective call for scores.
She has won the UC College-Conservatory of Music Concerto Competition, took top honors at the New Philharmonic Orchestra’s Young Artist Competition, and is a grant recipient of the Matinée Musicale Scholarship Fund as well as the 3Arts Foundation.
Her solo performance highlights include Vivalid’s le Quattro Stagioni: Primavera with the West Suburban Symphony, L’Inverno with the Southern Illinois Music Festival Orchestra, Piazzolla’s Los Cuatros Estaciones Porteñas with the CCM Philharmonia Orchestra.
